Norwex Microfiber Use & Care

To use your microfiber cleaning cloths, fold the cloth in half.  Fold it again.  You now have a total of 8 clean sides to clean with.  For the window and car cloth, fold it again and you have 16 sides to work with.  Place your whole hand on the cloth and wipe with even strokes.  The cloth should be flat against the cleaning surface.  Cleaning this way effectively removes 99.9% of bacteria from any hard surface!

To take care of your microfiber cloths, simply rinse under warm to hot water and rub the cloth together.  This will release the dirt and bacteria and wash it down the drain.  Hand to dry.  My home now has a number of the white sticky hooks you can buy all over my home with microfiber cloths hanging from them!  I have these behind kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors so my cloths are always easily accessible.  To save the environment and reduce the use of detergents, we suggest that cloths and mops which are slightly dirty be washed with a little dish detergent under warm running water and used again before laundering.  You DO NOT have to wash with soap after each use if not dirty, but you should always rinse under warm to hot running water.

When they need it, they can be washed and dried in your machines using any laundry soap. Dry them with low-lint items (ie, sheets or jeans), because the microfiber will grab lint off other things in your dryer if it gets a chance! Do not use fabric softener or bleach! Bleach degrades the microfiber, and fabric softener coats the fibers and wrecks their grabbing power.   To deep clean, remove stubborn stains or odors from cloths Norwex microfiber can be boiled for 10 minutes to allow fibers to swell and release debris.  This process is great to help maintain the “grab power” of the microfiber as the soap residue can coat the fibers and leave them less effective for grabbing the grime and bacteria from surfaces.

Not only will you be reducing the chemical use in your home by using the Enviro Cloth, you will also be saving time and money.  You probably won’t believe this, but statistics show a reduction of 70% of time spent cleaning when using the Enviro Cloth.  I didn’t believe this until I tried the cloths, but it is TRUE!  Using these cloths is simply so easy….grab one, wet and wipe.  Then you are done.  Simple.  Effective.  Quick!  You will also save 90% of your cleaning costs by using these cloths!  No more spray cleaners, no more paper towels, no more cleaning supplies.  You have a one time cost and the cloths keep working!
The Norwex Enviro Cloth is one of my favorite Norwex products.  I use this cloth multiple times each and every day in all areas of my home!  One of my favorite uses for the Enviro Cloth is in my bathroom.  I just grab it to quickly wipe up my sink and it looks perfectly clean in a matter of seconds.  This cloth has replaced all of the chemical cleaners I used to use and cleans absolutely everything in my house.  Every home in Chicago should have one of these!!!
I encourage you to test this cloth! I continue to be amazed at it’s cleaning abilities! It will wipe away grease and grime from kitchen surfaces, it will get soap scum and hard water scales off your bathtub or shower, take away smells from your toilet and will event remove old stains from your carpets!  Oh, and if you want truely streak-free mirrors and windows, wet your Antibac Enviro cloth with water, wipe the surface, then polish with your dry Antibac Window Cloth (more on that soon!)  You absolutely will NOT believe how great the result is!

Norwex Microfiber.....Experience the Difference!

I am so excited to bring Norwex microfiber to downtown Chicago!  Having access to these fabulous products will bring your green cleaning to a new level.
One of the most recent technological developments in the past 10 years has been the ability to produce extremely fine fibers.  These “micro-fibers” have allowed us to make huge strides in the green cleaning industry.
How does microfiber work?  When used properly, microfiber picks up matter from a surface’s microscopic pores to achieve a real CLEAN.  Traditional cleaning methods apply chemicals to a surface thereby disinfecting that surface, however some dirt remains in surface pores as a normal cotton fiber only attracts some dirt and spreads the rest around the surface.  Norwex microfiber uses capillary action to pull dirt and grease within the fibers and away from the surface.
You are probably wondering, “what makes Norwex microfiber different from other micrifibers?”  First, Norwex microfibers are 1/100th the size of a human hair which provides superior “grabbing” power.  One gram of Norwex microfiber will span over 70,000 meters.  In each Norwex Enviro Cloth there is approximately 2.9 million meters of microfiber. If you started to unravel the fibers in an Enviro Cloth starting in Manitoba, Canada you stretch the fibers all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico.  That is a LOT of fiber in one little cloth!  Retailers can categorize a cloth as microfiber if the fibers are 1/6th the size of a human hair.  That may seem small to you, but consider that Norwex microfiber is 10 times finer which allows the Norwex microfibers to clean that much more effectively.  Norwex microfiber has also been scientifically proven to remove 99.9% of bacteria from whatever surface you’re wiping…using only WATER!  Our microfibers pick up and hold onto the dirt and bacteria from any hard surface in your home.
The cleaning power of a retail store microfiber cloth is significantly diminished after only a few washes, where as Norwex Antibac cloths have been shown to last seven years or longer, and even after 500 washes, studies have found that an Antibac cloth still picks up more than 99% of bacteria. Another difference between the 2 types of microfiber, is that you can't put most retail store cloths in the dryer after laundering, but you can dry Norwex microfiber in the dryer. It may not seem like such a big deal until you try finding them in a pile of your wet laundry...that is just a pain!
The second factor that makes Norwex microfiber unique is the patented silver technology incorporated into the cloths.  Micro-silver is woven into Norwex cloths and bound to the microfibers permanently.  Silver is a natural element that creates an environment where bacteria cannot live or breath, thus reducing bacteria by 99.9% within hours.  This means cleaner cloths, less frequent laundering and reduction in cross-contamination (which allows you to use just one cloth throughout your entire house).  One of the major benefits of this is that your Norwex microfibers will not smell!  No live bacteria in the cloth equals no awful smells.
Microfiber can be used dry to dust or wet to clean.  When using Norwex microfiber dry the static effect attracts dirt and dust particles.  Wet Norwex microfibers for an effective clean to any hard surface.  Wet, wring and wipe.  It’s that easy!  From our Enviro Cloths to our Polishing Cloths to our Dusting Mitts to our Mops….THAT is the Norwex difference.
I am so excited to bring Norwex microfiber to Chicago so people now have access to it right downtown!

The Start of My Norwex Journey in Chicago…

My sister Katie called me from MN one February morning to catch up and talk about the weekend.  At the end of our call she mentioned that she was hosting a Norwex party the following weekend and that I should let her know if I wanted to order anything.  I had never heard of Norwex so asked her what it was all about.  She told me that Norwex sold chemical-free cleaning products that a lot of her friends use and love.  This peaked my interest a bit considering the hours I have invested looking into ways to detoxify our home ever since having our first child.

As busy moms can, I totally forgot to look up the Norwex website once I hung up the phone.  It wasn’t until the following weekend when Katie emailed the Norwex website to me and said “Julie, you really need to check this stuff out - the products are awesome” that I pulled up the website.  As I started looking at their products and how to use them my initial thoughts were “No way, this is too good to be true.  Cleaning with only a cloth and water?  If this is for real, why have I not known about this?”

I called Katie once again to ask her a bunch of questions.  Norwex has been in Minnesota for a few years and many of Katie’s friends use the products.  Katie had a long “wish list” of things she wanted which led her to hosting a party.  Norwex offers an amazing hostess program with great incentives for hosting.  These are all of the things Katie got for FREE when she hosted her first Norwex party (which only 6 people went to!) – over $250!!!

1 Envirocloth, antibac ($15.99)
1 Body Pack, antibac ($19.99)
1 Dishwashing Liquid ($7.99)
1 Dusting Mitt, antibac ($16.99)
1 Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent ($27.99)
1 Spirisponge ($4.99)
1 Kitchen Cloth Set ($23.99)
1 Superior Cloth, antibac
1 Bathroom Scrub Mitt ($23.99)
1 Window Cloth, antibac ($17.99)
1 Mattress Cleaner ($35.99)
1 Sanira Toilet Brush System ($52.99)
1 Dryer Balls ($18.99)

Anyway, I asked her if the cloths really cleaned if you only use water.  Katie explained to me that the Norwex microfiber cloths are made of the highest quality microfiber you can find. It is the most innovative product in the industry, utilizing a unique silver agent.  The silver agent is embedded inside the microfiber so when the cloth is used to clean surfaces, it not only removes 99.9% of the bacteria on the surface, it destroys those bacteria after only a few hours.  This means cleaner cloths, less frequent laundering and reduction in cross-contamination.  You clean with only the microfiber and water.  It is honestly amazing.

I was so excited about the idea of cleaning with something that is 100% chemical free that I suddenly wanted to order a bunch of the products to try!  Katie encouraged me to try the basics first to make sure I liked them so I placed my first Norwex order that day picking up an Envirocloth, Polishing Cloth and the Dryer Balls (I was so excited to have a solution to get rid of the toxins that come with using dryer sheets, but still having static free clothing!)

After our call, I thought more about all of the products I did not order but really wanted to try.  Knowing my friends and the knowledge sharing we all do, I figured that I would have heard about Norwex if any of them had used their products.  Since I wanted to order some other things and also spread the word with my friends I thought I would look into hosting a party myself so that I could get a bunch of the things I still wanted to try for free.  I started my search for a consultant in the Chicago-land area and couldn’t find anything online.  I finally just called Norwex directly to connect with a consultant who could host a party for me.  They told me that the closest consultant to me was over 60 miles from downtown Chicago!  It was at that moment that I thought to myself – I should become a Norwex consultant!  I have been passionate about making my home as healthy as it can possibly be for my family.  The more I thought about it, the more excited I became at the idea of educating others on the many toxins that can be found in our homes – and now, an easy solution to detoxify and make our homes a healthier place to live.

I’m excited about this new Norwex journey that I’m starting in Chicago.  I love it that I wasn’t even looking for a business opportunity, but found a product that I love and a cause that I am passionate about.  I love it that I wasn’t even looking for Norwex.  Norewex found me.
